Renowned for his distinctive tone and authenticity, Messer has constantly pushed the genre’s boundaries, from the pioneering Second Mind Band to the East–West fusion of Michael Messer’s Mitra. His work has earned him fans like Johnny Cash, who penned liner notes for his album Rhythm Oil, while King Guitar topped the US Living Blues Chart and Second Mind was named Best International Guitar Album of the Year. Cited alongside Duane Allman and Ry Cooder among the greatest slide guitarists, Messer continues to innovate — most recently with his 2024 album Mostly We Drive, recorded with Chaz Jankel. 🌍 Phillip Henry A master of slide guitar and harmonica, Phillip Henry is known for blending British folk roots with global influences. His acclaimed solo album True North traces a decade of travel and musical discovery, from studying in Kolkata under Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya to performing across Australia and Canada. Using instruments such as the Weissenborn, Dobro, and rare Chaturangui, Henry’s performances are a captivating mix of skill, soul and storytelling. Also famed for his show-stopping beatbox harmonica, he’s collaborated with Peter Knight (Steeleye Span), Steve Knightley (Show of Hands), and Hannah Martin (Edgelarks) — earning a reputation as one of the UK’s most inventive and expressive contemporary guitarists.
